This image is from a shoot that was a Bolivian trifecta. Shot, styled, sourced and modeled by Bolivianas. Using designer vintage garments we recreated traditional Cholita fashion. Many of these designers themselves have “borrowed” ideas and designs from indigenous communities and this was a way of taking it back and to honor Bolivia’s Cholitas. Who are some of the most badass, hard working women in the world. When I approached Vanessa Acosta (@fromabolivian) about doing a shoot together, I knew it would be one of the most enriching things I would do but I didn’t expect it to open such a door in my spirit that would have me questioning everything. Vanessa is such a talent. I found her via social media over a year ago. Like all other Bolivians, we both don’t know many others that aren’t our family. Knowing this, I aggressively reached out and she was enthusiastically receptive. We have been supportive of each other since the beginning. And it gives me such joy to see her creativity and talent take her far. .
I met Lizbeth Sanchez (@chiefliz) in a similar fashion. I saw her at A Current Affair a year or so back and its hard to explain but I new instantly that she was South American. If you ever get the chance to talk with her, you’ll experience such warmth and knowledge from her. She is connected to everything and is such an inspiration. She is a mega entrepreneur, being the mother of Wild Living Foods and The Holy Grail, in Los Angeles. She communicates and interacts with an incredible healing energy. Im proud to know her.
These two women make me strive to be better in every endeavor that I choose. Im so excited to create more with them and to supply representation of Bolivian culture and to give back to my community. Stay tuned for more.
